Selecting new instructional materials is a pivotal opportunity to ensure all students, especially multilingual learners (MLLs), can access rigorous, grade-level math content. In the next few months, the state of California will release the approved Math curriculum options. Education leaders need to be informed in order to make the best choices.

In this session, ELSF will guide California education leaders through our prioritized math product features, designed specifically to meet MLLs’ needs. You’ll walk away with:

  • Clear understanding of the three most essential math product features and how to identify them.
  • Concrete, adaptable RFP language to set clear expectations for materials that embed supports for MLLs.
  • Ways to leverage multilingualism as a strength and a foundation for all learning.
  • Practical strategies to ensure materials foster academic, linguistic, and social success for MLLs.

By the end of this session, leaders will be equipped to signal their dedication to providing MLLs with the high-quality instructional materials they need to succeed academically, linguistically, and socially.

Intended Audience:

  • California School Board Members
  • County Office of Education Leaders (Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents)
  • District Leaders (Math Specialists, MLL Specialists, Instructional Superintendents, Directors of Teaching & Learning, Directors of Curriculum & Instruction, Chief Academic Officers)
  • School Leaders (all levels of math/MLL expertise)
  • Note: Teachers are welcome, but this webinar is designed for decision-making leaders.
