Yanet Bueno

Math Curriculum and Instruction Specialist, The City University of New York

Yanet Bueno is originally from Cuba where she studied Industrial Engineering. After relocating to New York City, she completed another bachelor’s degree and received a master’s degree in Secondary Math Education. She worked as a classroom teacher for an International High School in Brooklyn for over a decade. During her career as a teacher she created and implemented original math curricula for English Language Learners. She also coached new teachers and led grade level planning teams. She received her training in school leadership and policy at Stony Brook University where she earned a post-master’s advanced certificate. Yanet is currently working as a Math Curriculum and Instruction Specialist for the City University of New York.  This role involves revising and improving a curriculum designed to support high school seniors that are likely to need remedial classes once they enter college as well as coaching teachers across the city. She also creates and facilitates targeted professional development for math educators in more than 40 schools in NYC. Yanet is currently finishing a doctoral program in Educational Leadership and Policy at Hofstra University.
